How to Get Eight Sleep HRV into Bevel
Bevel can't read Eight Sleep directly — and Eight Sleep never writes HRV to Apple Health, which is the only place Bevel looks. So even though your mattress measures HRV all night under ideal conditions, Bevel's recovery score can't see any of it. The fix is a one-time bridge setup that takes about two minutes.
The setup
- Install Nocturne and sign in with your Eight Sleep account (full step-by-step here).
- Choose "Full Time Series" HRV export. This writes ~70–100 readings per night — the same granular format Apple Watch uses — and Bevel computes its own baseline from that richer dataset, exactly as it's designed to.
- Backfill your history with Bulk Export so Bevel has weeks of data to establish your baseline immediately instead of starting cold.
- Enable Auto Sync. Nocturne exports each night automatically in the morning, so your Bevel recovery score is ready when you wake up — no app-opening ritual.
- In Bevel, make sure HRV and sleep permissions from Apple Health are enabled — that's it.
Do I still need a wearable?
For sleep-time recovery data, no — the Eight Sleep sensor data flowing through Apple Health covers HRV, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, and sleep stages. A watch still adds daytime metrics (workouts, active heart rate), and the two coexist fine: recovery apps read whatever Apple Health holds. What Eight Sleep syncs natively vs. what needs Nocturne is broken down in this guide.
