Does Eight Sleep Sync with Apple Health?

Updated July 2026

Partially. The Eight Sleep app can sync sleep stages, sleep duration, heart rate, and respiratory rate to Apple Health through its native integration. But it does not export HRV (heart rate variability) to Apple Health — and there is no official setting, workaround, or data export that changes that.

That single missing metric matters more than it sounds, because HRV is the number most recovery apps are built around. Here's the full picture.

What syncs and what doesn't

MetricSyncs to Apple Health?
Sleep stages (light, deep, REM, awake)✓ Yes — native
Sleep duration✓ Yes — native
Heart rate✓ Yes — native
Respiratory rate✓ Yes — native
HRV (heart rate variability)✗ No — never
Bed & room temperature✗ No (no Apple Health category)

Why the missing HRV matters

HRV is the primary recovery signal used by apps like Bevel and Athlytic, which compute daily recovery and training-readiness scores from Apple Health data. Eight Sleep measures your HRV all night, every night — arguably under better conditions than a wrist wearable — but because it never writes that data to Apple Health, recovery apps can't see it. Unless you also sleep in an Apple Watch or Oura ring, your recovery scores are running blind.

How to get Eight Sleep HRV into Apple Health

Since there's no official path, the fix is a bridge app. Nocturne signs in to your Eight Sleep account, reads your nightly data (including the full overnight HRV series), and writes it to Apple Health — either on demand or automatically each morning. The full step-by-step is here: How to export Eight Sleep HRV to Apple Health.

Frequently asked questions

Does Eight Sleep export HRV to Apple Health?

No. HRV is shown inside the Eight Sleep app but is never written to Apple Health. A bridge app is required.

Can Bevel or Athlytic read Eight Sleep data?

Only what Eight Sleep writes to Apple Health — sleep stages and heart rate. HRV needs to be synced separately; see the guides for Bevel and Athlytic.

Is there an official Eight Sleep data export?

No bulk export or CSV download exists. The native Apple Health integration is the only official way data leaves the Eight Sleep app.

What does the Eight Sleep HRV number actually mean?

It's a nightly average derived from continuous overnight readings — full explanation in Eight Sleep HRV explained.
